About HELPline

How It Works

When you dial (951) 686-HELP, you are put in touch with someone who cares, who will listen and support you in your time of crisis. Counselors who have successfully completed 58 hours of crisis/suicide training answer the HELPline phones 24-hours a day. Bilingual counselors are also available. Together you explore alternatives to help stabilize your situation. It is important to remember “you are not alone” when a crisis occurs. Who uses HELPline?

People use HELPline when they are feeling overwhelmed by their situations and perhaps considering suicide. A suicidal person sees everything in black and white, and does not consider other alternatives. People also call when they are depressed, abusing drugs and/or alcohol, having family-related problems and for any other kind of crisis.

HELPline also serves as a local information and referral number. One phone call gives you information on the services available to meet health care needs, legal services, family planning and much more.

Community Education & Presentations

HELPline is available for community education and presentations on crisis/suicide signs and prevention. Professionals regularly present to a variety of groups including: high schools, student groups, university students, parents and more.
